Running Marathons – “Why would you run a marathon?, What do you think about while you run?” Two questions that people ask on a regular basis.
Here are my answers in a nutshell.
- The first answer is, “because I can!” I have control over my body, I have worked very hard to achieve physical conditioning and aerobic ability, dropping 70 or 80 LBS in the process. I run because I can, because it keeps my in shape, and because it makes me happy. And I think about everything from things in my personal life to religion, politics, everything and anything.
- This past weekend at the Miami Marathon, I realized that that I create my own happiness. If I can do it, then you too can create your own happiness and don’t let anyone stop you!. Live and let live, dance and sing like no one is watching.
We get one shot at this life, and if it’s the last thing I do, I will do what makes ME happy so I can make those I love Happy! Running a marathon may seem impossible, but trust me, it isn’t. Just like stepping on the yoga mat for the very first time, it can be done! trust that inner voice that says you can, and you will!!
That is what I think about and also why I run 26.2 miles. If you say “I can’t” then you won’t!! maybe try saying “I can,” and see how it goes! We only get one shot at this journey, so we might as well make it amazing!!. Get out there and enjoy every breath, every moment and every experience.
